Köln Germany

Dan came home from work and said we were going to go to Köln Germany for the weekend (14 Dec)! I was more than ecstatic to get out of our little temporary house for the weekend and go visit a Christmas market. Köln Germany is about 2 hours south of where we are living so it wasn't a bad drive at all. Dan got off work early on Friday and we headed out on our adventure. Dan also surprised me and we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Inn on the Rhein river. We were walking distance from the cathedral and the Christmas markets which was perfect for us! Here are a few pictures from our weekend.

The inside was amazing. The picture can't even begin to show the magnitude of its beauty

There were thousands of locks along this bridge. We walked past this every time we crossed the river. I looked it up after the fact and it's locks of love. Apparently people write their names on the locks and then throw the key into the Rhein river. Guess we'll have to get a lock and take it with us next time :).

The Christmas markets were a lot of fun too. We had a lot of fun trying out new foods, drinks and looking around at all the ornaments and different booths. I didn't get any pictures of the market since they were all so crammed with people and we were trying to navigate the stroller through the herds of people while trying to shop for gifts to send home! Dan enjoyed several glasses of Gluhwein (hot wine) though. I'm not a huge fan of it but I love the glasses you get to keep when you purchase the drink. We're going to try to collect a glass from each Christmas market we go to while we live over here.

It's amazing how great Tanner has done with all this traveling. He's such a trooper and has adapted very well to all the places we have taken him. He's also learned that he likes to sleep with mommy and daddy in their bed so that might have something to do with it! Either way, we are very blessed that he has done as well as he has with this move and all the new places we have taken him.

It was definitely a great weekend and I can't wait to go see more of what these great countries have to offer!
