Hayden Garritt Foster

Hayden Garritt Foster is here! Born 5 Aug 13 at 11:03 via C-section and weighing 3080 grams (6# 12oz), 19.3 inches long and his head is 14 inches around. The delivery and hospital stay went a lot better than I expected and the delivery team was excellent. It was actually quite amazing to see everyone working together and trying their best to explain everything to us in English. The anesthesiologist, nurses and surgeon all explained what they were doing step by step and when one of them couldn't think of how to explain it in English they had someone else step in and tell us. The surgeon said my scar from my first C-section was ugly so she removed it and hopefully my scar this time won't be so ugly! We were also allowed to take our camera into the operating room this time which was nice. Dan was able to cut the umbilical cord (he got to with Tanner too) and then he stayed with Hayden the whole time. Hayden was making a weird whimpering sound while we were still in the OR so Dan, the pediatrics nurse and Hayden all left and went up to the pediatrics area for further observation. Once I was out of surgery and released to go back to my room they took me to Hayden to nurse him and he finally calmed down. Guess he was just hungry! He lost 210 grams the first couple of days before my milk fully came in but he gained 110 back by the time we left the hospital. I'm so thankful we had nice nurses who tried their best to communicate with us even though they really didn't have to. One of the nurses even called the city hall for us to make an appointment for Dan to go down and pick up the birth record and helped us translate the dinner menu so I knew what I was ordering. What she couldn't explain I Googled and figured out what it was! I really wish the rest of the process was as smooth as the hospital stay! Here are some pictures from the delivery and hospital stay.

Just getting back to our room :)

We were in the hospital for 3 nights and the first couple nights/days were a little chaotic with nursing, being observed and waiting to get my IV and catheter out so Gail and Tanner didn't get to come visit us until Wednesday. Here are a couple pictures from their hospital visit. Tanner wasn't really sure about me being the in the hospital bed or about Hayden so he stayed attached to Grammy and Dan for the first hour or so. Once he realized he could get on my bed and it moved he did better.
Proud Daddy with his two boys!!!

Here are some pictures of Hayden's first bath...

And here we are leaving the hospital headed home!!!

It's been great being back home. We were here for a couple days and then we had to head to Spangdahlem AB Germany to have our command sponsor appointment and Hayden's circumcision. Now just a couple more days in my make-shift bedroom downstairs and then I'm going to concur the stairs at our house and start sleeping in my own bed again (our stairs are curvy and very steep...not like stairs we have in the states)!!!

We also attempted to take some newborn pictures today and I think they turned out pretty good. Now to get them ordered and birth announcements done and mailed :)

Love the blanket my grandma Rogers (Hayden's great grandma) made for him! It's perfect!!!
